Statistics of numbers of people in the Communicants List of 1749.

The Communicants list is a list of persons attending the Parish Church of Dunrossness in 1749.   This list was compiled by the minister, John Mill.

1.   Numbers of Persons

Cunnisburgh has 113 persons (54 Females / 59 Males)         (48% Females and 52% Males)

Sandwick  has 267 persons (141 Females  / 126 Males)         (53% Females and 47% Males) 

Dunrossness has 528 persons  (261 Females / 267 Males)   (49% Females and 51% males)

Total Persons =  908  Persons (456 Females / 452 Males)       (50% Females and 50% males)

2.   Percentage Females & Males

Thus there are about equal numbers of men and women in the 3 parts of Dunrossness.
