Transcription of the Communicants List held at the Shetland Record Office
The list below was transcribed from the original Communicants List of 1749, but I am unsure when this was done or who carried out the transcription.
However, when we searched the original document we found an omission in the transcription of a John Burgher living in Cullister. There may be other omissions or errors in the transcribed list.
I am unsure what is the meaning of the names that are shaded out in yellow, or are crossed through in the list below. They are not shaded in the original list. Possibly the transcriber coloured them yellow for a particular purpose. Attempts are being made to determine more about this. It is said that some of the names might have been added after 1749.
However, on studying the Burgher persons in the list, and comparing them with other sources, my impression is that nearly all the Burgher persons were entered in 1749.
