This is a modern map but it does show the relationship between Hillwell and the smaller settlements around it. Gord was in the 1700s a small settlement of a few crofts. Nearby (but not shown on this map) was Lud, a small distance south of Gord.
The photo below (from Google) shows the present day arrangement of the various hamlets.
