It is not known where Edmund Bond (about 1700 - 1769) was born.  He spent all of his adult life at Wicken Bonhunt in Essex.

Possibility 1. Edmund Bond came from Norwich.

It is possible that Edmond Bond was a servant of Wentworth Bradbury, prior to Wentworth Bradbury being appointed at as vicar at Wicken Bonhunt.  He might therefore have been born some distance away from Wicken Bonhunt, and moved with the Vicar on his appointment.

The Bradbury family were Lords of the Manor at Wicken Bonhunt for 5 generations (well over 100 years) and it is nearly certain the Wentworth was related to this family.

See details about the Bradbury family.

However, we have found that a Bradbury family were resident in Norwich in the late 1600s, and a Wentworth Bradbury was christened there in 1686. Coincidently, there are several Edmond Bond recorded as being born in Norwich in the 1690s. It is therefore possible that our Edmund Bond came from Norwich.

Possibility 2. He was born near to Wicken Bonhunt.

Wicken Bonhunt is close to the Essex - Hertfordshire border. There were large families of Bond in this part of Hertfordshire from 1500 to the 1700s.

The first Edmond Bond that we have found recorded is in the Cottered Marriage register.

Edmond Bond married Alice Wodsshaun? on 12/9/1564

A later entry has:

Edmund Bond married Agnus Austin on 1/10/1573

This suggests this early Edmond Bond might have been widowed and remarried.

It is thus possible that our Edmund Bond may have been born in Essex or Hetfordshire.

Wicken Bonhunt was a fashionable place to be married in the early 1700s, many couples came from London and parts of Essex.
