William George Francis Burgar (1911-1988) - Compensation Claim
Following being torpedoed, William claimed compensation from the Royal Navy for the problems that he was having with his feet. The main problem was that the Navy erroneously thought that he had not been in the Royal Navy. They therefore had to clarify that he was serving in the Royal Navy at the time of the accident, but had been seconded to a merchant ship. This finally seems to have been clarified in April 1944.
