William George Francis Burgar (1911-1988) - Royal Navy Service

The details are shown in the attached Royal Navy forms.  Only the parts of the forms with information on are shown.

The above form indicates that he was enlisted on the 18th March 1941 under the National Service regulations of 1939. He was demobbed on the 4th November 1945.  On the 9th November 1943 he received the British Empire Medal (Military Division). which has now been discontinued as a medal.  At the time it was awarded for "meritorious service" and is equivalent to an MBE
