Within Shetland there are many parishes.  The Burgar family in the 1700s were based in Dunrossness, the parish at the southern tip of Shetland.

The early Burgar family were scattered throughout Shetland.

by the late 1600s the Burgar family was based around Hillwell in Dunrossness, but after this slowly spread to other parts of Shetland.
